Bio|Audio Mapping Bat Walks

Bat walking is the practice of wandering at night with a detector, searching for bats. While I had extensive personal experience, I wanted to gain a greater sense of other perspectives. In the summer of 2018, I explored this using the method of bio and audio mapping.

Building on work by Christian Nold and other artists, this technique involves equipping participants with a sensors which records location and patterns of sweating in the hand - which may correlate to excitement or anxiety. The resulting maps serve as prompts for deeper conversation and discussion of an often elusive experience.
